Aussie Bird Count 2015

Well a little off the coffee and food trail, The Aussie Backyard Bird Count starts 19 October and runs to 25 October across Australia. Spring is the best time to do a little spotting in your local neighbourhood and incredibly 852,318 birds were spotted last year.

Australia has an amazing bird life, sometimes we forget and their chirps blend into the background muddled with the city noises. It’s one of the aspects I appreciate the most about Western Australia, is our birdlife, and I really notice it when I go overseas, the missing bird noises.

So to contribute to the bird count, all you have to do is sign up, or download the app and start counting! At sunset or dusk head outside – your backyard, school, local park and see what you find!

If you are in Perth, head to Bold Park, Kings Park, Lake Claremont, Perry Lakes (lots of Kookaburras), Lake Monger. Donnelly River Village (3 hours south of Perth) is a great place to get up close to the local birdlife.
