Cakes and Coffee at Choux Cafe

Sunday morning, its windy, dark and wet. Little did we know of a storm was due to hit the area later in the afternoon. For the moment though we head to a neighbourhood French patisserie known as Choux Cafe. We managed to secure a table inside and ordered our regular coffees and cakes at the counter. There was a new cake (photo above) in the glass cabinet of which I apologise, ...

Sweetness at Choux Cafe

I would imagine living so close to this little French patisserie one could smell the pastries and breads baking away in the rear kitchen every morning. Choux Cafe make all of their scrummy goods in the cafe. Each time I try to taste something different even if I may not be entirely convinced of the combinations, like the strawberry and basil macaron. I am always pleasantly surprised with the combination of such unusual flavours ...

Flor Patisserie Singapore

Duxton Hill is in the Tanjong Pagar district of Singapore, it is a lovely area to walk through with many of the maintained and restored terrace homes creating a charmful part of Singapore. Duxton Hill is refreshing compared to the likes of Marina Bay Sands, we definitely felt like we were in Singapore at Duxton Hill. Many office workers flock to the area during lunch time as the business district is nearby, this is the best ...

La Galette De France Nedlands

Crepes and coffee is what you will so find at La Galette De France in the riverside suburb of Nedlands. This French patisserie serve a fair of cakes, quiches, warm savoury food and sandwiches.  There is plenty of free street parking and alfresco seating available, we take a seat outside under the umbrellas. Unfortunately I missed the chance of trying the crème de marrons crepes as they had run out of the chestnut but never mind, where ...

My Birthday with a Patisserie Cake

Happy Birthday to me! This year I thought I would be organised and order a cake from the Swiss Patisserie in Subiaco, Chez Jean Claude. The family were meeting at our place followed by dinner in Chinatown, Northbridge. The very tiny patisserie has a fairly large website of many choices of desserts, breads and pastries. Through the website you can also specify when to pick up your purchase, I think at ...

Choux Cafe, once again

I returned to Choux Cafe for a Saturday afternoon treat(s). Today there were a few new macaron flavours and layered patisserie cakes. I could smell the cookie dough as we passed the kitchen and took our seats under the umbrella out the back. I love this place! Just like Nonna's!   My choice of treats was the avocado and pineapple macaroon and the apricot saffron macaron.Good God! The flavors are strong and complimenting. Coffee was a ...

Macarons and Coffee

A combination worthy of my consumption. Today's choice of coffee break was in the city at Jean Pierre Sancho on Hay Street. The good thing about this place is that it does not close early in the afternoon so it is possible to grab a coffee after 3.00pm! The macaron flavors we selected were passionfruit, Moet Champagne and hazelnut. The macarons were okay, they were fairly chewy and it was difficult to taste the flavors. ...

Working Lunch from Chez Jean-Claude Patisserie

Working in a bit of chaos this morning my lunch break was very rushed and I popped into Chez Jean-Claude Patisserie for their sandwich rolls. I highly recommend the char grilled chicken roll. The bread is crispy and thin, just how I like it. Chez Jean Claude serve a great sandwich in Perth! It helps that they make the bread onsite in their tiny patisserie shop. The bread is perfect, its taste unbelievable. The thin ...
