OZEating’s White Christmas Sundowner

Yesterday I was lucky enough to win tickets from Cook Dine Travel to OZeating’s White Christmas Sundowner, hosted at Malt Supper Club on Beaufort Street in Mt Lawley. The thought of an evening of food, yes was very exciting and it was shaping up to be a jam packed evening of tastings, sipping wine and meeting food producer’s, all in the setting of a bar.

Dressing up for the theme of the evening in cocktail dress (white, silver or ice blue) we wandered around the club sampling food from various producers, all organised into an Oyster and bubbly room, aromatic cheese and wine room, and a delectable dessert room complete with centre piece cake. Additionally, more food producers were found in the bar area.  Kelly Ramsay & Chloe James put together a delicious 7 course Malt Tasting menu, something to look out for in the future at Malt Supper Club. Trays of their food prepared by apprentice chefs from the Australian College of Applied Education circulated the room non-stop during the course of the evening.

To begin and kick on into a summery Friday night –  Lush bubbly and Gage Roads beer was complimentary until 9pm and then only $7 and $8 all night. Two Christmas-themed cocktails;  Tropical Christmas & Christmas Frost were $10 all night.

There of course, could not be one favourite food highlight of the evening, rather many; beef redang and nasi lemak from Nasi Lemak Korner, Merlot 2006 from Neilson Estate Wines, balsamic and raspberry ham from The Herdsman, middle eastern spiced beef hummus from the Hummus Club and spicy sausage from Westphalia.

The list of food producers and event organisers included;

OZeating
Malt Supper Club
Catalano’s Seafood
Gage Roads
The Hummus Club
Wonder Dawgs
Westphalia
My Fit Lunch Box
Nasi Lemak Korner
Sweet Adornments
The Herdsman
Major & Morsel
Tanglewood Wines
Neilson Estate Wines

The set up of the evening allowed us to chat with the various food producers. It was an uber cool event and the food just did not stop! It certainly wasn’t an event where you needed to position yourself close to the kitchen door. We were full! Looking at Instagram the next day, I realised I missed out on meeting quite a few people I follow like Cook Dine Travel, The Engineer Eats, Morsels, Sweet Adornments , but hey hopefully there will be a next time!
