I took my parents on an expedition to San Churro in Subiaco last weekend to try their very first Churro. It is not very often I can introduce something totally new to my parents, they tend to stick to the comforts of what they know.
The affogato arrives to the table beautifully presented. The shot of espresso in one cup and a scoop of ice cream in the other. A square of chocolate to add or eat on its own. The coffee was strong and not bitter. I love an affogato in summer.
The churro plate for two was served with dark and milk chocolate dipping sauces. You can choose from a few sauces, there is also cream and caramel. A trip to the chocolateria is certainly an indulgent one. The Churro, a fried sweet dough, dusted in sugar and then dipped in two different types of chocolate sauces. It was all very delicious!
In Europe Churros are cheap street food however in Perth they are a decadent dessert. The Subiaco corner store has a relaxing atmosphere. Located next door to Jus Burgers, you could carry out the challenge of burgers and churros! Perth people love churros and over the past few years San Churro has expanded with several outlets across Perth. Kids will absolutely love this place, being able to dip their Churros in chocolate and as my friend said ‘it’s letting the kids know there is a god after all!’
San Churro is open until 10.00 pm on the weeknights which is fantastic and on Friday and Saturday night it is open until 11.00pm.
