The beautiful sunny autumn morning had me leaving the coffee machine off at home and reaching for sneakers and my bag. A perfectly good excuse to go for a walk and enjoy a coffee in a cafe setting. We had been past The Bay Road Pantry a few months ago for a on the fly takeaway coffee and decided to return. About a 5 minute drive from the Claremont Quarter shopping centre the cafe is located in the residential area of Claremont.
Not intending to eat this soon changed when we viewed the all day breakfast menu. I ordered a simple poached eggs on toast ($13.00) and Dk the steak sandwich ($16.00). The menu is certainly reasonably priced for the upmarket Claremont area with most items under the $15.00 mark. The Steak sandwich was served with flat bread which we thought was a little unusual and Dk ended up using a knife and fork to finish it off as it was falling apart in his hands. It would have been nice to see it served with thick slices of bread. The eggs on toast was okay, the toast was a little thin. The cappuccinos were fantastic and arrived very quickly to the table shortly after placing our orders.
