In holiday mode it was very easy to fall into the morning breakfast routine, we would take a short walk to the Sandalwood restaurant and while most of the guests would opt for the convenience of room service we enjoyed the morning sounds and cool start to the day. The light was soft in the morning on the island and the ironed ocean was a calming vision.
The restaurant is intimate and opens onto a small roof covered terrace, it was serviced by two lovely Thai girls who tentatively refilled our coffee and made sure we were well fed during the meal.
I was very impressed with the quality of the coffee, it was strong and black.
Breakfast was served until 11:00 am and the selection was very simple with a choice of western or asian. I went with the scrambled eggs on toast option and Dk went with the asian breakfast.
Over breakfast we would discuss our days adventure, where would we scoot too and what would we see next on the little island of Koh Samui. Hiring a motorbike during our stay gave us so much freedom.
Sitting on the terrace we could see the big Thai houses built into the steep rock hillside. The photo below fails to show the detail of these houses that are over two levels high and have large rooftop terraces and balconies.
