The day after Perth’s Australia Day Sky Show we were a little worse for wear having had a late night and subsequently missing the Sunday morning breakfast run. It was about 2:00 pm and even though the kitchen at Fortysevenkirwanstreet had just closed, the chef made us feel very special indeed by allowing us to make an order – thank you guys!
Our second visit to this western suburbs neighbourhood cafe in Floreat, we placed our order from the lunch menu this time which is just as impressive as the breakfast one. Both the breakfast and lunch menu presents some creative and different styled dishes, a refreshing change from the usual chicken caesar salad and steak sandwiches out there.
Open Lamb Burger
DD ordered the open lamb burger with grilled haloumi, pickled beetroot, eggplant, baked tomato and tzatziki. This seriously large burger is without question ideally suited for someone absolutely famished and although named an open burger it is served with two sides of a bun. The burger is an fusion of middle eastern flavours and the lamb patty we think is a superb choice.
Grilled Peach Bruschetta
A sweet meets savoury dish the grilled peach bruschetta was my perfect selection, there is something appealing about eating strikingly different flavours that you would never think of combining on a single fork. The lightly toasted bread made the base for the layers of grilled peaches, bocconcini cheese, crusty prosciutto strips and loose lettuce leafs. Bocconcini is a mild moist cheese that certainly compliments those sweet juicy peaches.
The Toby Estate Coffees were consistent with our last visit and one thing that impressed was that as soon as we were seated one of the staff thereupon took our coffee orders and gave us some time with the menu before returning to take down our food orders. Such a simple act really made a big difference to our experience at the cafe and one of many reasons why we will return to Fortysevenkirwanstreet.
