Yelp Elite Event + Cambodian Cooking Class

A couple of evenings ago a group of Elite Yelpers were treated to some delicious Cambodian food at The Red Hot Spatula studio, a short distance away from the Swan Valley region. Our hosts Yvonne and her mother cooked up 4 dishes – spicy noodle soup, Cambodian sausage, Cambodian kroeung paste, khmer shrimp patties and sweet sticky rice (for dessert).

The evening was really casual and relaxing, we socialised over wine and watched the food preparation. Yvonne sharing her passion for food ran through the ingredients giving us some useful advice. We asked many questions and our hosts were really informative and friendly. It was great to discover the recommendations for coconut milk and noodle brands available in Perth.  There is no secret recipe or ingredient, everything is shared. We were all given a copy of the recipes to take home and I am a little excited to try my hand at making and drying a Cambodian sausage.

If you are a regular market wanderer you may have come across the Red Hot Spatula stand at some point around town. The mother and daughter have primarily offered an array of catering services from long table events to platters and corporate events. Originally from Singapore, a foodies paradise these two ladies are now offering some tempting cooking classes.

What is a Yelp?

Yelp is an online community for people to review local business from plumbing to ice cream shops. It is a place to find the latest happenings around town and new openings. The people at Yelp throw a couple of get togethers during the year for yelpers and what I mostly love about Yelp is being able to discover new businesses through their organised Elite events. The cooking class is a great example!
