Fortysevenkirwanstreet – 2nd Visit

The day after Perth's Australia Day Sky Show we were a little worse for wear having had a late night and subsequently missing the Sunday morning breakfast run.  It was about 2:00 pm and even though the kitchen at Fortysevenkirwanstreet had just closed, the chef made us feel very special indeed by allowing us to make an order - thank you guys! Our second visit to this western suburbs neighbourhood cafe in ...

Fortysevenkirwanstreet

Joining the Sunday breakfast crowd in Perth, we ventured out to a Floreat cafe called Fortysevenkirwanstreet. Sunday breakfast, I sure have missed you! The cafe  is a short drive from Subiaco and one of those places that unless you are regularly in the area you would never know it existed. The neighbourhood cafe surrounded by residential homes brings life to the small shopping strip. When we pulled up to the cafe  it was absolutely ...

Choux Cafe

Choux Cafe is a cosy and unassuming cafe located on a leafy tree green neighbourhood street in Swanbourne. The French cafe is one of my favourite places in Perth to visit for cake, coffee and croissants. I particularly love that all of the goods are baked in the little kitchen behind the counter using quality ingredients. Croissants made from real butter and not artificial substitutes. Pastisserie cakes made from creme patisserie. Pies, tarts, sausage rolls ...

John Street Cafe, Cottesloe

John Street Cafe sits away from the main strip of Cottesloe Beach nestled between stylish residency homes in the leafy green seaside suburb of Cottesloe. There is always a few super hot days during December and the weather has well and truly arrived. Day 3 of close to 40 degrees we head out for some breakfast just before noon.  I can say that it was rather peaceful and breezy sitting outside under ...

Barchetta, Cottesloe

Christmas has come and gone and the weather forecast here in Perth is expected to be around 39  to 41 degrees for the next few days to come, we never thought summer would arrive after a very cool November and  December. How could I ever have doubt, it sure is warm in the Western Australian capital. The scorching sun during the day keeps me either inside in air conditioning or in ...

Excelsior Deli

The suburb Shenton Park is virtually next door to Subiaco and it too has a number of street side cafes around the place as well as some well-known restaurants such as Galileo, Petite Mort and Kiri Japanese.  Excelsior Deli is located on the tree lined Onslow St and one Saturday morning before Coffee school in the city we stopped in for a quick coffee, perhaps a daring choice considering during ...

Breakfast at La Mousse

La Mousse Cafe and Patisserie is tucked away in the rather prestigious suburb of Mt Claremont, it is next door to the local library and civic centre. La Mousse have an impressive selection of macaroons and sweets and somehow 1 macaroon always turns into 5 when I stop past to grab a coffee, I just cannot resist! This morning our agenda was breakfast, we needed fuel to continue the task of painting the ...

La Mousse Cafe and Patisserie

The majority of patisserie cafes in Perth close early on a Sunday, so this raises the question of where to go for an afternoon sweet treat and coffee! Undertaking a quick search on the trusty Urbanspoon website, I found an immediate answer and all was not lost. Tucked away in the beautiful suburb of Mt Claremont is La Mousse Cafe and Patisserie. We initially drove right past the patisserie, looking for ...

Shak Shuka at Subiaco Farmers Markets

On  a Saturday morning of clear skies and absolutely freezing air we found ourselves at the Subiaco Farmers Market just off Rokeby Road at the Subiaco Primary School. Every Saturday morning between 8:00am to 12:00pm the primary school is transformed into a bustling market of local produce and food. Entertainment runs throughout the day and there is even special entertainment for the kids. Dogs are more than welcome too! Shak Shuka ...

Takeaway from Cambridge Forum

We all know about the Shanghai Food court and Chinatown in Northbridge but the smaller Cambridge Forum is what I call a little gem in the way of reasonable priced food in Perth. The indoor food court is located on Cambridge Street next door to the Wembley Hotel. There are plenty of tables in the dining hall and a great family friendly atmosphere. The place if fairly clean and there is even ...
